A client in the Spain who had developed and successfully trialled an MVP for a food delivery app which was built on top of a white label platform and was looking to improve their platform and begin adding more advanced features found themselves struggling to do so due to the poor quality and structure of their existing platform and amount of time fixing bugs.
We were engaged for a project rescue and rebuild to help them relaunch in time for summer and continue development efforts, while also salvaging any components of the existing platform which we could continue to reuse to ensure the majority of development time could be spent adding features while also ensuring the continued stability of the platform and ease of future development efforts.
In order to do so, we moved the existing platform to a Kubernetes cluster with Istio and worked to create a new platform built on best practices on a feature by feature basis, diverting API calls endpoint by endpoint. This meant we were able to continue to add new features on the more stable platform, putting the majority of our efforts into improving the customer experience, while doing so on a newer more stable platform, and then working backwards following the launch to bring in and stabilise the remaining features from the previous platform to the newer more stable one until all features were improved and replaced and we were able to shut down the previous system completely.
